So this is Derek's tree and I have no friggin clue why my text is currently underlined. This is how I picture the jungle in our film - mossy logs, wet, damp, humid, and misty rainforest. This isn't what would be 'final', what with all the sketchy strokes, but something close. I'll put up some other rendering treatments later. Thoughts?
My only hesitation about something in this style is getting it to work well with a flat 2D character. Would they work? Something maybe more along the lines of The Emperor's New Groove might work better - but at the same time - lets try to make this our own.
PS. What colour ARE our Gorillas?? Alexis I guess thats something we'll add to the list...

THAts Dope!
I think reddish grey gorillas would be ace. stands out against the greenish black jungle, too!
also, I love this far more than emperor's new groove! if by that you mean this:

although I suppose emperor's new groove would be more do-able, since the background is all meh and sketchy. but man, I love your sketchy but ~not meh~ style. love the fog. only thing, the tree looks too round and smooth? especially around the shiny area, it almost looks fleshy rather than barky. maybe I don't know what I'm talking about though! keep up the awesome.
yeah, can play with texture- I think this was more of a colour study
not feeling the red over the shoulders
looks better the other way
I personally would LOVE to see our bgs look like that. I'm definitely on board. If we go that route, we may need you to maybe do a once-over on everyone's backgrounds though. I can definitely try, but I don't know that I'll be able to 100% 'ape' your style (I know, I am witty and attractive). But that might not be a bad idea to keep things unified anyway.
As for texture, I think its fleshy look is a result of the slimy moss that's on the tree, is it not? In any case, looks awesome, dude.
Thx, homies.
Yea I didn't stress the texture too much because it really doesn't matter at this point - plus - you would never notice it in the film.
I agree nathan, I like how its 2D sillhouette as it goes away but is 3D in the front - you can thank Derek for that.
Rob - I have no problem whatsoever going over every single painting for the film just to give it consistency - infact, that would be friggin awesome.
But first we'll determin a look we want as a group.
I think for the Gorlilly's, the fur colour works great. The armour looks awesome colour wise however I think it might stand out too much. Like if it is a red then perhaps less saturated as regardless red will stick out above the green. can always use the darker versions of the colours but then use the brighter red or white in the rim lighting to help stand it out better. Good start though
