I like the last three (3,2,1), especially 3. but it could be just because it stands out most from the rest (shiny??). I'll need to think about that.... also, the brown gun in the first one is potentially interesting. whatever it is, I think it should match the soldier's color, look like it belongs to them.
as for the gorilla, the second one still seems the best. the armour being too creamy/light seems counterintuitive. but I suppose a full-body test would be needed.
Cool, man. I like the last one in particular, though given that the environments are mostly green and brown maybe we should avoid those colours for the soldiers. I always saw them as a dark grey/black. As for the gorillas, if they're going to be brown I think we should keep it from being too saturated, but maybe that's just my preference. The other thing to consider is that whatever colour we choose for the gorillas and their armour, I don't think we should actually USE those exact colours except when they're exposed in direct sunlight. Most of the time they'll be under the shadow of the tree canopy and it'll look funny if their colours are vibrant. I'd take the 'default' colours and swipe a dark blue at 10% opacity over it a few times until it looks right, and then use that colour whenever they're in the jungle.
ALSO as you may have guessed, I am sick. Sorry I missed the meeting today. I blame Rand, who uttered the prophetic words 'don't get sick' as I left the studio the other day. He might as well have just injected a virus directly into my bloodstream. I will spare you the details, but suffice to say that among other symptoms I have been spending a lot of time in the J-wing. The characters were done over the weekend but I just didn't have the wherewithal to come in and scan them yesterday. I'm gonna try to do that tonight sometime, and I'll drop them on the server. Hopefully tomorrow I'll be feeling better and can make the meeting and work period.
Okay, honestly, last time I'll comment on this post. Going back and watching your actual pipeline animation, I think I actually like that better than the colour tests. I prefer the monochromatic scheme. Maybe we can just lighten it a little bit or use the coloured linework. I also like the white eyes a lot. Okay that is all. I must go drink juice and pass out.
Damn Rob, don't die on us we need you :P I had a feeling something was up cuz you wouldn't normally miss a meeting.
We went over the layouts as they were and checked for continuity etc.
Also Rob, a lot of people were upset about not having model sheets to work with (namely Tank) - if you could muster enough strength and get them on the server tonight that would be really great. It seems to be impeding everyone's productivity.
DONT DIE - and LOL - you posted 3 times in 5mins. LOL
Thanks for replying guys, More replies are welcome from anyone!! I think the plan (Rob) would be to set up a "default" colour swatch (or sample picture) that you can take colours from and paint the scene accordingly regardless of the layout colours. Then we can throw a photo filter on it in after effects so we have control of the lighting (unify the whole thing). Things such as the highlight on the character (Alpha Bevel effect in AE) can be changed really easy regarding the angle so for example at the end of Alexis's flare shot when the soldiers are underlit, it is just a matter of changing the "Light direction" of the bevel. Then throwing the red photo filter over top at the very end.. that might be a good way to do it rather then painting the layout twice.

Really liking 1 and 5 for the soldier. Still not really sold on the gorilla colours tho. Id try maybe with some grey tones mixed with white!
